Ugly Duck

I was briefed to create a logo for a karaoke bar inspired by the Ugly Duckling fable, with early 80s, late 70s vibes. The client was looking for something similar to late 70s Times Square sex shop neon signs. Sleezy, not cute, risque, grimy, and underbelly were all words that were used to describe what we were going for. I spent a lot of time looking at sex shop signage and home video pornography logos, trying to create a moodboard that embodied all these things. Ultimately, I came up with these 5 logos, but unfortunately, these never made it past the black & white stage. Still had fun creating these, and it was a good exercise nonetheless.
